top 5 heart-winning pinoy band

 HALE

Music touches one's soul...
where rhythm of life and beauty is being expressed...
No wonder why a band like HALE has captured the hearts of many especially of the youth. Because much are written from experiences, their songs (alternative rock) are of sincerest that bring romance to a melancholic atmosphere. "The Day you Said Goodnight" was their first single for their first and self-titled album. It was hailed as the “Song of the Year" on 97.1 WLS-FM. Their latest and fifth single BLUE SKY  is now hitting the charts in radios. I guess this will bring about another inspiration to those who are aspiring for making their own bands.

Behind the triumph are the names from southern part of metro(Las Piñas, Alabang and Parañaque) Champ Lui-Pio’s (lead vocals and guitars), Roll Martinez (guitars and vocals), Sheldon Gellada (bass expert), and Omnie Saroca (drummer). Their ultimate goal is to make the crowd feel the essence of creating a band.

SPONGECOLA

A  Filipino Rock Band formed in 2002, Sponge Cola (often spelled Spongecola). The current members are Yael Yuzon (known to its shifting of voice from mellow to screamo), Gosh Dilay and Erwin Armovit. Unofficial members include Wendell Garcia of bands Archipelago and Pupil, and Tedmark Cruz who plays drums for bands Happy Meals and The Out of Body Special fill in as sessionist. Lunes, A Tear, Saturn, Cigarette and Jeepney are five of their original songs.
This band ranks second among my favorites since their members are cool and talented. What keeps them unique is their using of alternative elements such as samisen (a Japanese guitar), striking of amplifiers, cellphone ring tones and even the rain that are usually ignored in rock bands.

Top 5 Pinoy Popular Band

#1. Aegis Band

They're having a 6 members, five girls and a man, whom the girls tease as already being like one of them. Of course, they're just kidding. It's nothing more than long years of close friendship and togetherness... close to eleven years to be exact. It's hard to believe that a musical group could last this long in the business of making music, traveling to foreign shoes, sharing rooms, food, stories and lives. But that's the reality. The band has truly become a family after years of shared experiences. Furthermore, they are not merely a family. Due to the potpourri of native roots within the band, the AEGIS members also seem to represent the three major islands of the Philippines.

WHY IS THE BAND CALLED AEGIS?
There are actually two reasons why the group has opted for the name AEGIS. First, the group was formerly known as AG’s Sound Trippers. AG’s was the name of their manager’s company coined from their last names Abenoja-Galindo. But, since the band name was too long, they opted to go for AG’s or in other words AEGIS. Second, the literary meaning of AEGIS is "Shield" or "Protection". The group decided to adapt this word as the name of their band, because it expresses what they want to share to their listeners, to feel when they listen to their songs, that of being "protected" and "shielded" from being lonely. Most of the songs they chose for their album are love songs. They are hoping that lovers will find their songs as a protection from being lonely and broken-hearted.

#2. Callalily

The band's name were actually taken not on a variety of a flowering plant nor a local television show, but from a brand name of a bread on which the group's favorite snack. It was then Kean who decided the "Callalily" to make their band's name, and with accordance to the group they chose it because the name just like the bread was fresh-tasting and "maka-masa" in nature. Callalistas, the band's major fan name, also tagged them as "AKLAT" (Tagalog equivalence for "book") on which acronyms from the first letters of the Band Names - Aaron, Kean, Lemuel, Alden and Tatsi.

Nominated for Favorite New Artist in the 2007 Myx Music Awards, Callalily broke into the music scene with their singles Stars, Take My Hand, their breakthrough singleMagbalik, Pasan, which was also the OST of Lineage II, Insane and Sanctuary, all from their debut album Destination XYZ. Their sophomore album Fisheye followed not long after, which scored its first single Susundan. A commercial jingle Eto na ang Summer that was especially composed for Sony Ericson, also ran into airplays. Callalily Lead Vocalist Kean Cipriano has a duet collaboration with Paraluman vocalist Madeline Ramboyong with their hit single "Tabi", from the Paraluman's debut album "In Lab!" launched in 2008.
#3. Parokya ni Edgar
It was formed in 1993 by a group of Ateneo de Manila High School students. The band is famous and most lauded for its original rock novelty songs and often satirical covers of famous songs. The band has since transcended musical genres, varying styles from one song to another - alternative rock to pop rock, funk to rapcore, and so on - while providing comic relief to their listeners.

Parokya Ni Edgar came from a joke answer Jeric Estaco gave during Philippine History class, when the teacher asked him where the father of Jose Rizal's fictional hero, Crisostomo Ibarra, was educated.
The band soon started playing at the legendary local band hub, Club Dredd. Coming out during the height of the Pinoy rock explosion, with the Filipino rock community giving in to the influence of especially grunge acts such as Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden, Parokya ni Edgar played like no other. Their jokes, silly antics, and outrageous performances paved the way to the popularity that they currently enjoy.
Eventually, the late managing director of Universal Records, Bella Dy Tan, signed them as contract artists after witnessing one of their performances at Club Dredd. Soon their initial recordings such as Buloy, TripLutong Bahay were heard across the nation. Their first album, Khangkhungkherrnitz became a triple platinum hit in the Philippines having sold 120,000 units. The other 3 albums include Buruguduystunstugudunstuy (triple platinum), Jingle Balls Silent Night Holy Cow (gold), and Gulong Itlog Gulong (platinum).

#4. Kamikazee
is a rock band from the Philippines composed of Jay Contreras (lead vocalist), Jomal Linao (guitars/back-up vocals), Led Zeppelin Tuyay (guitars), Jason "Puto" Astete (bass) and Allan "Bords" Burdeos (drums).

  • Jose Ma. Luis "Jomal" Linao - guitar/Backing vocals
  • Led Tuyay - Guitar
  • Jason "Puto" Astete - Bass
  • Allan "Bords" Burdeos - Drums
The band maintains close ties with another popular Philippine band, Parokya ni Edgar (PNE). Chito Miranda, PNE's vocalist, met the band members in college as he was also studying in the College of Fine Arts. In events with Parokya ni Edgar on the line-up, one band's singer would normally jam with the other band. On Parokya ni Edgar's songs Jay frequently joined Chito Miranda on songs like "Okatokat", "Chikinini" and "The Yes Yes Show." Jay was the back-up vocals to PNE's hit song "The Order Taker" while Jomal was on lead guitars.

a compilation of the defunct Filipino Pop-rock band  Eraserheads. It was released by Sony Music Entertainment Philippines in 2004 featuring the greatest hits of the band. It was the bands's first greatest hits compilation album after their disbanding in 2002. The album was released in two disc set.

Eraserheads, or E-Heads was a prominent Filipino rock band of the 1990s, formed by Ely Buendia, Raimund Marasigan, Buddy Zabala and Marcus Adoro. The band is one of the most successful, critically-acclaimed, and significant bands in the history of Original Pilipino Music,[1] earning them the accolade, "The Beatles of the Philippines."[1][2] Eraserheads are also credited for spearheading a second wave of Manila band invasions,[3] paving the way for a host of influential Philippine alternative rock bands[4].
The band released several singles, albums, and EPs that reached number one. This commercial success was most evident in the release of their third album Cutterpillow, which achieved platinum status several times. Eraserheads are one of the best-selling musical acts of all time in the Philippines, paving way for an international career that earned them the "Moon Man" in the MTV Video Music Awards.
Their diverse music worked both in the underground and mainstream scenes of the Philippine music industry. By fusing different musical styles such as alternative, pop, rock, reggae, and synthpop, Eraserheads helped change the sound of Pinoy rock.

#5.   6CycleMind

AFilipino band composed of Rhoneil "Ney" Dimaculangan on lead vocals, Ryan "Rye" Sarmiento on rhythm guitars and backup vocals, Carlos "Chuck" Isidro on lead guitars, Bobby "Bob" Cañamo on bass and Tito Fortunato "Tutti" Caringal on drums. Their music is a fusion of alternative music and pop music.

6cyclemind comes from the 5 members plus their manager, Darwin Hernandez as the 6th person. Collectively, they all contribute to the composing, arranging and brainstorming, which is a continuous cycle in their creation of music, hence 6cyclemind. Carlos "Chuck" Isidro was the former lead guitarist for Afterimage. When Afterimage disbanded, Chuck, worked in recording company. During his stay, he signed up a group managed by Darwin Hernandez. Both of them talked and chose to form a band by adding members, which became 6cyclemind.

My 5 Pinoy IdOL bAndZ!!

BAMBOO
Francisco "Bamboo" Mañalac serves as the band's frontman. Contrary to popular belief, the band is not named after him. According to Ira Cruz, the guitarist, the word bamboo relates to strength and durability with an island feel to it.Also, it's very Filipino and Asian at the same time. Their first priority for a band name during 2000s was "Audio Barangay" which means "Audio Neighborhood" in English. However, they realized that its a bit hard to pronounce and it is not that catchy compared to just "Bamboo." They also dropped the name "Audio Barangay" because Audioslave was formed roughly the same time during their band's formation, to avoid confusion.

Two of its members, Bamboo Mañalac and Nathan Azarcon, were formerly part of Rivermaya. The other two members, Ira Cruz and Vic Mercado, were former instrumentalists of another band, Passage. Ira Cruz and Nathan Azarcon were also former members of the band Kapatid during that time.
Four years after their departure from Rivermaya, Mañalac and Azarcon caught up again with each other, during which Azarcon introduced him to Ira Cruz and Vic Mercado.
